SLP and Special Needs Parent Advocate

With over a decade of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, my professional journey took an unexpected turn when my son was born. At the time, I was working in acute care, regularly treating stroke patients. Like many parents, my husband and I were overjoyed at our son's arrival. However, within weeks, we noticed something wasn't quite right.

Despite my clinical expertise in stroke rehabilitation, our concerns were initially dismissed by medical professionals. This experience starkly highlighted how even those with relevant medical knowledge can struggle to be heard in the healthcare system. My instincts as both a mother and an SLP pushed me to seek answers.

This experience opened my eyes to a harsh reality: access to critical early intervention services often depends on who you know. It's a system I've seen from both sides - as a parent navigating services for my child, and as an SLP working in school districts.

Driven by a desire to level the playing field, I've created the Horizon IEP Masterclass. This comprehensive course is the resource I wish I'd had when I was lost in the maze of special education, feeling overwhelmed and underinformed.

The Horizon IEP Masterclass is designed for parents of children with special needs who:
